Challenge

FIPCO needed to modernize its legacy Compliance Concierge platform to improve availability, streamline the user experience, and reduce operational risk, all while maintaining high standards for data protection across multiple environments.

Approach
Flexion took on the challenge of transforming the Compliance Concierge platform into a scalable, cloud-native solution built on AWS infrastructure. We prioritized resilience, observability, and automation to create a reliable backend that supports seamless lending workflows across hundreds of community banks. Our steps included:
- Environment Setup: Deployed AWS Control Tower to establish multi-account governance, centralized security, and logging across development, staging, and production.
- Secure Database Access: Enabled secure, auditable access to Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL through bastion proxies, Secrets Manager, and IAM-controlled credentials.
- Monitoring & Alerting: Implemented granular alerting via CloudWatch and SNS for CPU utilization, DNS health (Route 53), container image pulls (ECR), and RDS latency thresholds to ensure uptime and proactively catch issues.
- CI/CD Enablement: Established automated build and deployment pipelines using AWS CodePipeline and CodeCommit for containerized services hosted in EKS.
- Resilience & Backup: Designed for disaster recovery across AWS Regions (us-east-1 and us-east-2), with data protected via AWS Backup and cross-region replication.
- Identity & Access: Integrated Amazon Cognito for secure user authentication and access management across clients and admins.
- Collaboration & Transparency: Used Confluence and Trello to track architectural decisions, sprint progress, and configuration notes, ensuring cross-team visibility and audit-readiness.
Outcomes
Flexion delivered a modern, resilient backend for the compliance concierge that significantly improved system reliability and operational efficiency. Service uptime increased to over 99.95%, while environment provisioning and teardown became fully automated. Deployment times were reduced from hours to minutes, enabling faster iteration and responsiveness. Security was strengthened through centralized secret management and fine-grained IAM controls. Most importantly, the solution established a scalable model that FIPCO can confidently apply to future SaaS initiatives.
